Waterfalls In Jamaica

Jamaica is frequently referred to as the land of wood and water. So it is only expected that there should be a lot of Jamaica waterfall attractions.

There are a wide variety of waterfalls in Jamaica, some of more famous waterfalls in Jamaica are Dunns River Falls and YS falls.

We have explored the island and managed to find a few hidden gems. Hopefully, this list will help you to find the best waterfalls in Jamaica.

Reach Falls

Reach Falls is located in the parish of Portland, around 45 minutes east of the town of Port Antonio. This waterfall is located in the Montane Forrest on the John Crow Mountain Range.

There is a picnic area on site. A guide can lead you upstream the river where you can visit an underwater cave.

These falls are in a remote part of Jamaica so don’t be surprised to have the waterfalls all to yourselves.

Sommerset Falls

These waterfalls are located in Port Antonio. You have to take a boat upstream through a narrow cavern to reach the waterfalls.

Dunns River Falls

 

Dunns River Falls is the most popular tourist attraction in Jamaica and is certainly the most popular Jamaica waterfalls attraction in the island.

Located in the town of Ocho Rios, this stunningly beautiful waterfall is sure to please. Try and get there early in the morning and on non-cruise ship days to avoid the crowds. There is a craft market located on the premises.

Turtle River Falls

Turtle River Falls and Gardens is one of Ocho Rios hidden gems. There are actually a series of 14 cascading waterfalls. There is also an aviary and a botanical garden on the property.

Konoko Falls

This property boasts spectacular views of Ocho Rios. Konoko falls also have a botanical garden and a petting zoo.

Shaw Park Gardens and Falls

This property is located in the hills of Ocho Rios. You will be able to experience gorgeous views of Ocho Rios and enjoy the tranquil gardens nearby.

Breadnut Valley Falls

Breadnut Valley Falls Is located in the parish of St. Elizabeth. The same parish where attractions such as YS falls and Lovers leap are located.

Reggae Falls St Thomas

Known by locals as Damhead is located in St. Thomas. Reggae falls is not technically a waterfall, it is the remnant of a former dam.

YS Falls St. Elizabeth

YS Falls are located on the southern coast of Jamaica in the parish of St. Elizabeth. The Y.S. river originates in the cockpit country.

For you daredevils out there you can go zip lining over the waterfalls. YS Falls is one of the most scenic falls in Jamaica.

Kwame Falls – Strawberry Fields

Kwame falls is located in St. Mary, Jamaica. The nearest tourist town is Ocho Rios. You have to take a bit of a hike to get to Kwame waterfalls.

Mayfield Falls

The drive to these falls is worth it. You will either travel through farmlands or through the Jamaican hills. Both routes provide you with stunning views of the Jamaican countryside.

Mayfield falls has a series of swimming pools and waterfalls. The largest waterfall is called the washing machine.

The Blue Hole

The Blue Hole is located around 20 minutes from the town of Ocho Rios. There is a stunning blue swimming hole. Further up the river you have a gorgeous waterfall.

Fish Dunn Waterfalls

These waterfalls are located in the foothills of the Blue Mountains. If you are traveling by car the waterfalls are located on the road that goes from New Castle to Buff Bay.

You will pass a few other waterfalls on the roadside. If you take the Blue Mountain Bicycle tour. These waterfalls are one of the stops on your downhill bicycle tour.

Nanny Waterfalls

Nanny Waterfalls are located in Portland around one hour from Moore Town. Moore Town is the home of the Jamaican Maroons.
