Mayfield Falls Jamaica is a hidden treasure located in Glenbrook, Westmoreland.

Most people are familiar with Dunns River Falls and YS Falls, but few have heard of Mayfield falls.

Fortunately, you won’t experience the crowds of better-known waterfalls such as Dunns River Falls. Mayfield falls is more of a nature walk and visitors usually have the falls to themselves.

Driving there, taking in the beautiful views

Mayfield falls is located in the hills of Hanover. On your journey there you will be able to experience a bit of the Jamaican countryside.

Depending on where you are traveling from, you will pass through sugarcane fields in the valley or you will enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery.

A Bit about Mayfield Falls

Get ready to explore this natural spring. Mayfield falls has 9 natural Jacuzzis and 21 natural pools. The largest waterfall and the most magnificent is the washing machine which is approximately ten feet high.

Mayfield falls is also home to 52 varieties of ferns and a large variety of tropical plants.

What to expect

Once you enter the property you will descend a series of steps to the main starting point of the tour. From here you will go on a walk with your guide.

Your guide will point out the various flora and fauna indigenous to the area. You will also learn a bit about the history of the river.

This is an immersive waterfall tour so expect to get wet. You will wade through a series of small pools and leap from cliffs into swimming holes.

You can even swim through a small underwater cave. There are a series of smaller waterfalls where you can sit and have the water massage you.

The highlight of the tour is the washing machine. You can sit under these waterfalls and receive a better massage than any spa can give you.

After wading through the river you will head back to the entrance area. There are a series of huts here and food and drink are available.

  • Bring water shoes
  • Bring a waterproof camera
  • Bring swimwear
  • You can rent a locker
  • You can pay for pictures of your experience
  • Bring Lunch or make sure lunch is part of your tour package. There are no food places nearby. You can order lunch after but it might be a bit pricey
  • Take cash – The falls is in the middle of nowhere, if the credit card machine is not working there is nowhere nearby to get cash. You will also need cash for tips for the guides.
  • Make sure your swimsuit will stay in the right places. The water pressure from the waterfalls is really strong!
